​Melissa Ford Thornton is Publicist for Ricky j Taylor & the Live Roots Ensemble and provides creative input as well. Born in Redondo Beach, California, Melissa graduated magna cum laude with Bachelor and Master of Arts degrees in English Literature from the University of Alabama Huntsville and worked in corporate and academic public relations.
She is a published author and poet and freelance journalist. Melissa also is a frequent guest on WLRH Public Radio’s Sundial Writer’s Corner and a contributing writer to Shattered Magazine. Her blog: “A Slice of Life: Observations from the Periphery,” challenges readers in a poignant, honest – sometimes quirkily humorous manner – to embrace life’s little moments with an eye toward discovering or rediscovering hope.
She is a member of Public Relations Council of Alabama and the Americana Music Association.
When she’s not busy promoting Ricky j Taylor & the Live Roots Ensemble, storytelling, writing and creating poetry, Melissa can be found kayaking, running, hiking and occasionally jumping out of airplanes (with a parachute).
